| | My dream of you (Chivers) ISBN 0754007634 by Nuala OFaolain read by Dearbhla Molloy. It may seem early in the year for such a definitive pronouncement, but I would be surprised (and, naturally, also delighted) if any fiction on audio gave me as much undiluted pleasure as Molloys performance of OFaolains debut novel. Clever, passionate, lyrical and down-to- earth, the style reflects the narrator Kathleen as, nearing 50, single, childless and unhappy, she returns to the Ireland she left 30 years before. The reasons for her departure, along with every other significant episode and person in her life, are decanted into the present-day story as her researches bring alive the horrors of the potato famine and she tries to decide how to tackle her future.
